One more fashion week that just ended away from my attention. Because I have other things to do now. And most of all because I somehow lost my interest. Not in fashion, but in the Fashion Week. Being there doesn’t make me happy any more. Two days ago I was planning to go and boycott everyone there by sitting around in my truck suit and sneakers while taking care of little Yann. Never happened coz I lost 30 minutes looking for a place to park the car. BUT while I was driving I saw Susie Bubble stretching out her hand for a cab and this reminded me of a photo I saw recently of her (the first below), which made me think one more time about the post I’ve been postponing for a long time but apparently needed a glass of home-made red wine to start.
If you’ve followed just a little the fashion trends for the last… let’s say 4 or even 5 seasons, you’ve probably realized that neoprene clothes were leading the game. Stella McCartney and Balenciaga’s collections in 2012 had a huge impact on what we see in the streets now.
But I asked myself what happens next and what happens is that almost all the confection stores and fast fashion brands put out neoprene-looking cuts, just like these ones:
So it seems like the way from a great artistic idea to the mass market/average buyer/street is 4-5 seasons long. Quite a while, ah? In my mind it was faster, at least I was thinking that the “Chinese machine” could answer faster to the demand…
